I too tire of the blonde trance
Parapets and horse-drawn paths
Upon which our story’s cast
Of flat characters flee to wedded ends
Imagination travels further: it must
Devour cliché as a desert creature
Perhaps a jackal-headed Beast
Guards a blue lotus and not the rose
At present, Sarah Elizabeth Colona finds herself caught between New Jersey and Virginia. You may find her poems in past issues of CdF and Jabberwocky.
